Eurozone trade surplus at €21.2B in June

Euro area's international trade surplus in June stood at €21.2 billion, compared to the prior year's €19.4 billion, the bloc's statistical office Eurostat reported on Friday.

The EU recorded a €20.7 billion surplus in trade in goods with the rest of the world in June 2020, compared with €17.5 billion in June 2019. Eurozone exports of goods decreased 10% year-over-year to stand at €170.3 billion, while imports fell 12.2% to €149.1 billion.

According to the statement, in June "the COVID-19 containment measures widely introduced by the Member States continued to have a noticeable impact on international trade in goods, although there are signs of improvement compared to the previous month."
