FAA grounds flights due to smoke from wildfires in Canada

The US Federal Aviation Administration grounded on Wednesday some flights bound for New York's LaGuardia Airport because of smoke from wildfires in Canada.

The FAA stated that flights had been affected by poor visibility, with many scheduled to fly from the East Coast and upper Midwest to LaGuardia. Delays were also reported at Newark Liberty International Airport.

As of Sunday, some 3.3 million hectares had already burned, and more than 120,000 people had been forced to flee their homes. Smoke from Canada's wildfires covered New York City between Tuesday and Wednesday.
