French govt considering 3-week lockdown for Paris

The spokesperson for the French government, Gabriel Attal (pictured), stated on Friday the Hotel de Matignon was considering imposing a three-week lockdown in Paris to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the capital.

His remarks come after the country's Health Minister Olivier Veran noted some regions might require introducing tighter movement restrictions due to the epidemiological situation in them.

As of Thursday, France counts a total of 3,686,813 cases and 85,608 coronavirus-related deaths. Earlier this week, it saw the highest rise in infections registered daily since November.
