FTX restarts withdrawals - reports
Cryptocurrency exchange FTX has enabled users to withdraw funds from their accounts, CoinDesk reported on Thursday, citing data provided by blockchain analytics firm Nansen. According to the report, clients withdrew a total of $6.8 million in the past hour.
Earlier in the day, The Wall Street Journal was told by an unnamed source that FTX gave loans worth billions of dollars to Alameda Research, both majority-owned by Sam Bankman-Fried, using FTX clients' deposited assets. Alameda owes FTX about $10 billion, Bankman-Fried told an investor this week, according to the source.
In addition, FTX contacted crypto exchange Kraken about a potential rescue agreement after a similar deal with Binance fell through, Axios reported also on Thursday, citing two anonymous sources familiar with the matter.
