Gas futures surge on energy dispute with Russia

Natural gas prices in Europe rose over 13% on Wednesday as the energy conflict with Moscow further escalates over the leaks in the Nord Stream system.

In this sense, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said earlier that the EU is "deeply concerned" while adding that "all available information indicates those leaks are the result of a deliberate act." Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde told SVT public television that the alleged sabotage is not an attack on Sweden. However, Ukraine has claimed Moscow is behind the incident.

UK natural gas futures for delivery in October soared 13.44% to 290 pence per therm at 10:26 am CET.
