Germany's inflation rate up to 2% in April

Consumer prices in Germany rose 2% in April compared to the same month last year, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) said on Wednesday. The figure marks an 0.7% increase from the previous month's inflation rate.

Energy products prices surged 7.9% on the year, according to the report, while goods prices rose by 2.6%. Meanwhile, services prices added were up 1.6% on an annual basis.

Finally, Destatis reported that the harmonized index of consumer prices increased by 2.1% last month in Europe's largest economy.
