HK police to lift PolyU blockade

Hong Kong law enforcement said it would lift the blockade of the Polytechnic University on Friday after it is done removing dangerous items, such as nearly 300 petrol bombs, over 300 cassette gas cans and dozens of buckets of various chemicals and weapons it found on the university campus.

Among other things, police found a significant number of glass bottles that could have been used to prepare Molotov cocktails.

The university was under siege for 13 days straight since November 17. The city is now bracing for a fresh round of protests over the weekend, following district council elections in which the pro-democracy forces clinched a sweeping victory.
