House postpones vote on $2.2T relief bill

The US House of Representatives decided to delay the vote on a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill that was scheduled to take place later in the day, the lower chamber of the Congress announced on Wednesday.

The House intends to give one more day for reaching a potential bipartisan agreement or it will vote on Thursday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin met earlier on Wednesday to discuss the bill proposed by the Democrats, failing to reach the deal. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell claimed that the two sides are currently "very, very far apart" on the proposed stimulus package, adding that Pelosi's demands are "too high."
