IMF: Recovery may be loosing momentum

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director asserted on Thursday that the global economic recovery's momentum may be slowing down in countries with a surging number of coronavirus infections, according to recent economic data.

The economic outlook "remains difficult and prone to setbacks" despite upbeat news related to the development of multiple coronavirus vaccines, the IMF head said in a statement ahead of the G20 summit.

The economic growth could be limited by a potential delay in the mass distribution of the vaccine, she noted, adding it could push countries deeper into public debt.
