India's govt to examine banning cryptocurrencies

A government panel in India decided on Monday to recommend banning cryptocurrency trading in the country, a proposal which will be examined by the government.

The effort to ban virtual currencies in the second-most populous country in the world is championed by Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg. The draft bill proposes 10 years in prison for individuals who "mine, generate, hold, sell, transfer, dispose, issue or deal in cryptocurrencies."
