Japan's inflation at 2.5% YoY in April

The annual inflation rate in Japan further increased in April compared to the same period of 2021 to reach 2.5% and surpass market estimates, according to a report published by the country's statistics bureau on Friday.

Furthermore, the national consumer price index excluding fresh food (CPI) came at 2.1% on a yearly basis, the highest score since March 2015. It also marked a significant increase from 0.8% the previous month.

The national CPI excluding food and energy increased 1.5 percentage points from a negative 0.7% in March to reach 0.8% in April.
