Johnson announces non-essential shops reopening

Outdoor markets and car showrooms in the United Kingdom will be allowed to reopen as of June 1st, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday. Those places represent lower risk than indoor places, Johnson said, adding that their reopening should be done along with putting proper measures in place.

Another wave of reopenings can be expected as of June 15, when indoor shops will be allowed to start working, on condition that adequate measures are implemented.

According to the latest update, there were 1,625 new coronavirus infections in the UK in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 261,184. The total death toll is at 36,914, with 121 new deaths since the previous day.
