Kudlow: Wouldn't put timeline on China deal

Talking to CNBC's First On, Director of Economic Council Larry Kudlow said that he would rather "not put a timeline on the China trade deal," failing to provide further details on the much-anticipated trade accord between the US and China. Despite reporters' insisting, Kudlow refused to "put words in president's mouth," and only repeated what he said earlier in his New York Economic Club speech.

"I cant go into negotiating details," the director of the Economic Council noted, reiterating that "a lot of progress made on a number of issues, including financial services, currency stability, commodities, and agriculture. "We're close to reaching phase-one deal. It could happen soon," he stated.

He said no side in the talks would agree to any tariff adjustments before the deal is struck, denying once again previous rumors about the US giving in to Beijing's demands concerning tariff removal, stressing however that levy reduction "may be" a part of the phase-one deal.
