Le Drian: Exiting crisis with US will 'take time'

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian made a statement on Thursday following his meeting with the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying that sorting out relations between the two countries following the fallout over the AUKUS deal will take time and effort.

"I met my American counterpart @SecBlinken this morning in New York to initiate a process of in-depth discussions between our two countries. Getting out of the crisis we are experiencing will take time and will require action," Le Drian tweeted on his account.

Le Drian called America's agreement with Australia and Britain "a real stab in the back", saying the move reminded him "a lot of what Mr. Trump used to do." The recent statement also comes a day after US President Joe Biden had a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, during which the two leaders discussed paths of moving forward.
