May poised to remain PM until fall - report

United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May plans to remain in office at least until the Conservative Party national conference, scheduled for the end of September, the Times reported. Allegedly, she plans to conclude ongoing negotiations on the UK's departure from the European Union herself, despite being urged by a number of Tory backbenchers to either hasten the Brexit timetable or offer her resignation by June.

Reportedly, Downing Street proposed a new deadline for negotiations with the European Commission, which would pend on her remaining prime minister. This framework would also allow her to campaign during the summer, before the party conference and the formation of a new European Commission.

Earlier, May's Minister for the Cabinet Office David Lidington confirmed that Britain will have to take part in the European elections, as Members of Parliament will not be able to agree on a Brexit plan in due time.
