Mexico urges US to brand El Paso shooting 'terrorism'

Mexico's Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard called on the United States on Wednesday to treat the recent mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, an "act of terrorism" against Mexicans.

"It’s very important to persevere, to specify, clarify and demand that measures are taken so that this is not repeated, and the first measure is to classify it for what it is, an act of terrorism that seeks to take Mexican lives," Ebrard stated.

Earlier this months, 22 people were killed and many more were wounded in the shooting at a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso. The white shooter, who was detained after the incident, confessed he committed the act with the intention to kill Mexicans. US President Donald Trump condemned the massacre, stating the perpetrator was "consumed with racist hate."
