Moscow declares Ukraine attempted large-scale offensive
Russian Defense Ministry stated that Kiev forces failed to break through in a "large-scale offensive" attempted in five sectors of the front on Sunday.
Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov told reporters that the operation took place in the morning, with Ukraine attacking Russian lines it deemed most vulnerable in the Donetsk region, without success. "The enemy did not achieve their aim, they failed," he concluded. As per the statement, 250 Ukrainian soldiers lost their lives and 16 tanks were destroyed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday declared that his country is ready for the counteroffensive, while the Ministry of Defense today stated that there will be no operation start announcement as "plans love silence."
