Nadler: Mueller should have charged Don Jr.

United States House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said he "does not understand" why Special Counsel Robert Mueller did not charge US President Donald Trump's son with criminal conspiracy. In an NBC interview, Nadler expressed the opinion that Donald Trump Jr. and other persons present at the 2016 Trump Tower meeting should have been charged as part of the Russia probe.

"[Mueller] said that they didn't charge them because you couldn't prove that they willfully intended to commit a crime. You don't have to prove that. All you have to prove for conspiracy is that they entered into a meeting of the minds to do something wrong and had one overt act. They entered into a meeting of the minds to attend a meeting to get stolen material on Hillary. They went to the meeting, that's conspiracy."

The Democratic lawmaker also stated that "some of" the president's conduct described in Mueller's report is impeachable. "Obstruction of justice, if proven, would be impeachable. Attorney General William Barr stated that the report found Trump did not obstruct justice. However, Mueller left the decision to the Congress, and House Democrats vowed to continue the probe.
