Europe opens with gains ahead of inflation data

European markets opened with gains on Wednesday as investors awaited 

The FTSE 100 edged up 0.13% at 9:00 a.m. CET. Polymetal International surged 4.00% at 9:07 a.m. CET. Banks were among the best performers with Royal Bank of Scotland jumping 3.14% and Barclays up 2.67% at 9:06 a.m. CET.

The CAC 40 increased 0.30% at 9:01 a.m. CET. 

The DAX was up 0.21% at 9:02 a.m. CET. Bayer led the gains, climbing 1.29% at 9:03 a.m. CET. The banking sector also performed well.

Precious metals traded mostly in the green with the exception of platinum. Spot gold gained 0.26% to sell for $1,162.58 per ounce at 9:08 a.m. CET. Silver rose 0.81% to go for $16.43 per ounce and palladium was up 0.77% changing hands for $718.25 per ounce at 9:09 a.m. CET. Platinum dipped 0.24% to sell for $937 per ounce at 9:10 a.m. CET.
