European stocks end higher after US payroll data
Major stock indexes in Europe closed in the green on Friday after the release of solid nonfarm payroll data for January in the United States.
The British FTSE 100 closed 0.37% higher, as financials led the gainers. Barclays bagged 3.52%, while Prudential rose 3.35% on closing bell.
In Germany, the DAX index advanced 0.2% when the session ended. Continental jumped 4.1%, Deutsche Bank surged 3.63% and Munchener Ruck climbed 1.57%.
The CAC 40 finished 0.64% in the positive territory in Paris.
The euro increased 0.25% against the US dollar to go for 1.07806 at 5:54 pm CET and gained 0.49% versus the British pound, changing hands at 1.1592 for one unit of sterling. The joint currency edged up 0.12% compared to the Swiss franc and was almost flat at 0.01% in the red against the Japanese yen.
