Park charged for bribery with Lotte Group's Shin
Prosecutors in Seoul revealed on Monday that they formally charged Park Geun-hye (pictured), South Korea's ousted president, as well as Lotte Group's Chairman Shin Dong-bin for corruption. The surprising move concerns seven billion won ($6.16 million) that she allegedly agreed to take from the company in return for favors, authorities said.
Shin isn't detained, while Park, her confidante Choi Soon-sil and Samsung Group's heir apparent Lee Jae-yong, alias Jay Y. Lee, have been arrested earlier and are now indicted on several accounts arising from the influence-peddling scandal. All four have denied they were involved in bribery.
