Wall Street closes in the green, Nasdaq drops after intraday high

United States markets ended the trading session higher on Tuesday, as the Nasdaq 100 slightly declined following an intraday high. Earlier, a number of major companies already posted their results, including 3M, Verizon and Lockheed Martin. In the meantime, US President Donald Trump's administration unveiled a $12 billion aid plan to help American farmers hurt by retaliatory tariffs.

The Dow Jones gained 0.79% at the end of the session, with United Technologies being the biggest winner, rising 3.76% after a positive earnings report. The S&P 500 closed 0.48% higher. Avery Dennison Corp surged 11.08%, following better than expected earnings results for the second quarter. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 was up 0.47% at the closing bell, with Biogen and Alphabet rising 4.11% and 3.53%, respectively.

The euro was down 0.07% against the greenback, selling for $ 1.1684.
