Tusk calls EU summit for April 10 after Brexit deal defeat

European Council President Donald Tusk announced on Friday that an emergency summit will take place on April 10 in order for the European Union to discuss Brexit after the United Kingdom Parliament rejected Prime Minister Theresa May's withdrawal agreement once again.

"In view of the rejection of the Withdrawal Agreement by the House of Commons, I have decided to call a European Council on 10 April," Tusk announced in a tweet.

Earllier, May's deal was defeated for the third time, albeit by a smaller margin than in the first two votes as 286 MPs backed her motion and 344 opposed the agreement. The UK prime minster warned that the outcome of today's vote could have "grave implications" as the country is now set to leave the EU in just two weeks, which is "not enough to legislate for a deal."
