LVMH to donate €200M for Notre Dame restoration

LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE and its billionaire CEO Bernard Arnault (pictured) announced on Tuesday they will donate €200 million towards efforts to repair the Notre Dame Cathedral following a catastrophic fire at the 850-year-old Paris church.

"The Arnault family and the LVMH group would like to show their solidarity at this time of national tragedy, and are joining up to help rebuild this extraordinary cathedral, which is a symbol of France, of its heritage and of French unity," the luxury goods manufacturer stated.

The iconic cathedral was severely damaged after it caught fire on Monday evening but firefighters managed to contain the fire after several hours and save the church from completely collapsing. Earlier, Francois Pinault, CEO of luxury brand group Kering, vowed to donate €100 million for the reconstruction of the Notre Dame.
