Europe starts flat to lower amid earnings, data

European markets started flat to lower on Tuesday with the earnings season in full swing. Additionally, investors braced for the European Union's gross domestic product (GDP) and unemployment data, as well as Germany's unemployment rate statistics. Also, Germany published its import prices and consumer confidence data before market open.

The FTSE 100 was flat at 9:17 am CET. The DAX fell 0.15% at 9:18 am CET. Lufthansa AG was the worst trading stock, losing 2.79% at 9:20 am CET following the quarterly earnings report it published earlier in the day. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.33% at the same time, dragged down by Bouygues, which dropped 4.84% at 9:17 am CET.

The euro traded flat against the dollar, selling for 1.118 at 9:19 am CET.
