Iran's vessel rescued crew of attacked tankers - reports

An Iranian vessel has rescued all the crew members of the oil tankers reportedly attacked in the Sea of Oman, and brought them to the Iranian port of Jask, local media reported on Thursday citing an informed source. A total of 44 crew members were evacuated, according to the report.

United States Navy earlier said it was assisting two oil tankers targeted in a "reported attack" in the Sea of Oman.

Norwegian shipping company Frontline Ltd. confirmed that its Front Altair oil tanker caught fire, but did not say if it was torpedoed or not. It also stated that all 23 crew members have been evacuated to a ship nearby unharmed. Singapore-based shipping firm Bernhard Schulte also confirmed that its oil tanker Kokuka Courageous, sailing from Saudi Arabia to Singapore with a cargo of methanol, was damaged in the incident.
