Barkin: Inflation not trigger for interest rate cut

United States Federal Reserve of Richmond President Thomas Barker said that he does not see inflation as a trigger for more monetary policy accommodation as he thinks it may be closer to the 2% target than expectations show.

Speaking in Idaho, Barkin added that businesses in the US are still struggling with confidence as uncertainty is rising.

Earlier, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell hinted that the Fed may be prepared to cut interest rates at its July meeting.
