NATO chief: Turkey says will be restrained in Syria

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Turkey assured him it will take "proportionate and measured" actions during its military operation in northern Syria. The official noted that Ankara has legitimate national security concerns in the region as it has faced "serious terror attacks."

Speaking after a meeting with Italy's Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Wednesday, he added that Ankara kept NATO updated on its attack on Kurdish forces in Syria, which began today.

Earlier today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced "Operation Peace Spring", aimed against PKK/YPG (the Kurdistan Workers' Party/Kurdish militia in Syria) and Islamic State terrorists.
