Arab League condemns Turkey, Iran offers mediation

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned Turkey on behalf of the organization during an extraordinary meeting called by Egypt over the ongoing intervention in northern Syria, calling the operation an "invasion of an Arab state’s land and aggression on its sovereignty."

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Alhakim, president of the ongoing Arab League session, joined him, saying that the operation will "exacerbate humanitarian crisis" and "increase the suffering of the Syrian people," while strengthening terrorists' "ability to reorganize."

Meanwhile, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Javad Zarif reminded that the Adana Agreement between Turkey and Syria, which had Syria recognize PKK as a terrorist organization, still stands and noted that Tehran can "help bring together" Syrian Kurds, Syrian government and Turkey so that the Syrian army and Turkey can "guard the border."
