Brexit delay needs to be justified - De Montchalin

There can be no Brexit delay unless it is justified, France's Secretary of State for European Affairs Amelie de Montchalin (pictured) said on Monday.

Speaking to BFM TV, De Montchalin stated that the worst part about Brexit is the uncertainty, claiming it is worse than a no-deal Brexit "where at least you would know what is going on." "What is certain is that we need a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’ before October 31. There cannot be a new delay without it being justified," she explained after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced by MPs to request a delay.

On Saturday, UK lawmakers passed the Letwin amendment, which allows Parliament to withhold approval for the Brexit deal until the legislation needed to implement it was in place.
