FTSE falls 1% as Shell leads oil stocks lower

London's FTSE 100 fell 1% on Thursday as Royal Dutch Shell performed worst in the index following its quarterly earnings release. Oil and mining sectors were the biggest losers as BP, Astrazeneca and Glencore all traded in the red.

The FTSE 100 was 1% lower at 2:47 pm CET. Shell's class B shares dropped 3.70% at 2:34 pm CET.

Meanwhile, the pound increased compared to the dollar by 0.43% and changed hands for 1.29552 at 2:50 pm ET.
