Trump says he didn't okay canceling China tariffs

United States President Donald Trump stated on Friday he has not agreed to rolling back tariffs that have been imposed on Chinese goods and that he would not accept canceling all tariffs. The Commerce Ministry in Beijing claimed yesterday that a gradual rollback of duties has been agreed.

Trump added that "China wants to make a deal" and that it will be signed at a location in the US, "Iowa or somewhere in the country." When asked if he'll definitely meet President Xi Jinping by the end of the year, Trump said: "We'll see."

The president's trade adviser Peter Navarro stated yesterday that only Trump has the authority to approve such a shift in trade policy and called statements from Beijing a "spectacle of the Chinese propaganda press."
