Bloomberg News vows not to investigate boss, Dems

Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg News, John Micklethwait (pictured), issued a statement on Sunday vowing that the publication will continue the "tradition" of not investigating its owner, Michael Bloomberg, who officially started his presidential bid earlier in the day.

Bloomberg News will also not investigate other Democrat candidates running in the party's primaries. "We cannot treat Mike's Democratic competitors differently from him," the statement read. However, reports about Bloomberg released by other media will not be ignored, but either published in full or summarized, Micklethwait added.

Only the administration of United States President Donald Trump will be investigated, as it is "the government of the day." Depending on the outcome of the primaries and the elections in November, Bloomberg News will reassess its editorial policy, the statement concluded. Some members of the board, which will be suspended, will take a leave of absence and join their boss' campaign. Unsigned editorials will no longer be published, Micklethwait revealed, adding that columns and op-eds will continue, however, the topic of elections will be avoided.
