Pangolins could be involved in coronavirus outbreak

Scientists at China's Agricultural University and Guangdong's Modern Agriculture Laboratory stated on Friday that mammal animals named pangolins can be intermediate hosts of coronavirus, therefore possibly contributing to the rapid outbreak.

During their research, the experts found out that the positivity coefficient of the virus in pangolins reached 70%, while the genome sequence of the isolated animal virus strain is 99% similar to a case when a person infects another person.

According to the official data, over 31,500 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed so far, while at least 638 people died from the disease.
