Dow opens 800 pts higher amid market recovery

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was more than 800 points higher at the open on Tuesday amid market recovery from yesterday's worst fall since the 2008 financial crisis. Investors' positive sentiment was sparked by United States President Donald Trump's hints of a stimulus package to assist the country's economy. The American president also held discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding the oil market volatility caused by Riyadh's decision to reduce prices and increase oil output.

The Dow Jones jumped 816 points, or 3.44%, at the open. Exxon Mobil led the gains, rising by 8.71% at 9:31 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 added 3.64%, with Tesla surging 9.84% at 9:32 am ET.

The S&P 500 climbed 3.31%. Marathon Oil Corp. skyrocketed by 30.85% at 9:32 am ET.

The euro was 0.68% lower to trade for $1.13714 at 9:29 am ET.
