EIA: US crude stockpiles up by 1.6M barrels

Crude oil stockpiles in the United States increased by 1.6 million barrels to 455.4 million barrels in the week ending March 20, the Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, crude oil imports averaged 6.1 million barrels per day last week, down by 422,000 barrels per day compared with the previous week. Gasoline production averaged 9 million barrels per day, whereas distillate fuel production increased last week to an average of 4.8 million barrels per day.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.8 million barrels per day last week as refineries operated at 87.3% of their capacity.
