Trump: China may or may not keep trade deal

United States President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that China "may or may not" keep its trade deal with the US.

Speaking during a meeting with Iowa govdernor, Trump noted that Washington will report over the next couple of weeks if Beijing has been fulfilling its obligations under the phase one trade agreement the two countries signed in January. He said that China has been buying "a lot of farm products" but pointed out he is not sure if it purchased as much as promised.

Tensions between the US and China increased after Trump slammed Beijing for allegedly hiding information about the coronavirus outbreak and even accusing it of making the virus in a lab. The US president also hinted he could impose more tariffs against China in response to its handling of the pandemic.
