Nintendo sales rise 24% due to lockdown

Japanese multinational consumer electronics and video game company Nintendo Co Ltd said on Thursday it estimates selling of 19 million Switch console units in the current financial year due to the fact that the lockdown caused by wide-spreading coronavirus drove demand for this device.

The Kyoto-based gaming company said it sold 21 million Switch units in the year ended March. That represents a 24.0% increase on a year-on-year basis.

Software sales totaled 168.72 million units, meaning a 42.3% increase on a year-on-year basis.
