Wall Street closes mixed with US-China dispute in focus

Equities on the United States major stock markets traded mixed at the closing bell on Monday as tension between Washington and Beijing continues.

According to Chinese media reports, several officials from China are seeking to renegotiate the trade deal with the US, demanding a more reciprocal approach in trade relations between the two sides. Meanwhile, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro claimed "a bill has to come due for China" for its moves during the coronavirus pandemic, adding that Beijing must be held accountable for doing "tremendous damage on the world."

The Dow finished the session losing 0.45% as American Express sank nearly 5%, while the S&P 500 was flat at the same time. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.85% at the closing bell with Zoom Video Communications gaining over 7%.

The euro decreased 0.22%, trading for $1.08147 at 3:59 pm ET.
