Microsoft joins Facebook advertisement protest

Microsoft Corporation joined on Monday the protest against social networks' moderation policy and paused its advertisements on Facebook.

The technology giant stressed its concerns over having its ads appearing next to "inappropriate content" that includes "hate speech, pornography, terrorist content, etc." Its chief marketing officer (CMO) Chris Capossela stated the "resuming our media spending is dependent on the positive actions they take," but that the pause us very likely to continue through August.

Facebook is currently experiencing boycott led by companies from various industries against its management of hate speech and misinformation about the 2020 United States elections spread on its platform.
