US closes lower ahead of earnings reports

Major stock markets in the United States closed lower on Tuesday as traders are waiting for the earnings reports from major companies such as eBay, Starbucks, and Visa. Meanwhile, Congress has still not reached a deal on the coronavirus stimulus package, as members of the Democratic and the Republican Party are yet to agree on it.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded lower by 0.71% at the close, as 3M Co dropping by 4.84%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 1.33% with NXP Semiconductors NV decreasing by 4.16%. The S&P 500 went down by 0.65% as Lamb Weston Holdings Inc. declined by 11.46%.

The euro lost 0.33% to the dollar to sell for $1.17134 at 3:57 pm ET.
