Japan's trade deficit shrinks to ¥77.3B in June

Japan's trade deficit on the balance of payments (BOP) basis for the month of June landed at ¥77.3 billion ($728.6 million) in line with expectations, according to a report released by the country's Customs Office.

The figure saw Japan's trade balance falling 27.1% year-on-year, despite improving compared to the deficit of ¥556.8 billion ($5.25 billion) recorded in May.

In the meantime, the country's exports sank by 26.2% to stand at ¥8.62 trillion ($81.2 billion) compared to the same month last year, while imports dropped 14.4% to reach ¥1.3 trillion ($12.2 billion).
