US DoD 'concerned' about China's missiles launch

United States Department of Defense stated on Thursday it is "concerned" about China's recent launching of two missiles in the South China Sea and accused Beijing of violating the 2002 agreement made to avoid escalations of disputes in that zone.

"Conducting military exercises over disputed territory in the South China Sea is counterproductive to easing tensions and maintaining stability," Pentagon's statement read. "We urge all parties to exercise restraint and not undertake military activities that could threaten freedom of navigation and aggravate disputes in the South China Sea."

Earlier in the day, China urged the US to stop with its "provocative actions" and "strictly manage maritime and aerial military operations and restrain its frontline troops."
