Kia halts output in Seoul plants due to coronavirus

Kia Motors Corporation unveiled on Thursday it decided to temporarily close two plants in Seoul, South Korea, after 10 employees tested positive for coronavirus.

"We stopped the production following the health authorities' confirmation of the COVID-19 cases. We are now disinfecting the factories. We will decide when to reopen the factories later," the company's spokesperson said in a statement.

Sohari, one of the facilities that halted operations, employs 5,800 workers and produces 320,000 vehicles per year that accounts for 10% of Kia's global production.
