MetLife to acquire Versant Health for $1.7B

Leading global insurance company, MetLife Inc. announced on Thursday its $1.7 billion acquisition of Versant Health, a company dedicated to eye-care, belonging to Centerbridge Partners and FFL Partners investor group.

The acquisition will allow New York-based MetLife access to Versant Health’s roughly 35 million members, while its customers will be able to connect to Versant Health’s extensive provider network, among the largest in the industry. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020.

"This transaction furthers our goal of deploying capital to the highest-value opportunities," Michel Khalaf President and CEO of the company explained, and added that Versant is the "right strategic fit" for the company and expects the partnership to help and "accelerate revenue growth."
