Silver drops 3% to hit nearly 2-month low

The price of silver fell more than 3% on Wednesday to drop to its lowest levels since July 30 as the US dollar remained strong against major global currencies.

The safe-haven metal went down by 3.25% to sell for $23.60 per ounce at 5:43 am ET. Since the beginning of September, silver plunged more than 11%, but it has climbed over 32% in 2020.

Meanwhile, gold slid 0.59% three minutes later to trade for $1,889.01 per ounce, and platinum went down by 0.51% at 5:47 am ET to go for $865.86 per ounce. Palladium gained 0.97% at the same time, trading for $2,253.70 per ounce.
