Volvo stops with pandemic redundancies

Swedish car manufacturer Volvo said on Friday that the redundancies in the company will end and that it won’t file for a new period of support. Volvo introduced the pandemic measures back in March when approximately 20,000 employees were affected.

According to Swedish television SVT, all redundancies in the company today will stop immediately and Volvo’s press manager, Claes Eliasson, confirmed that they have applied until 31 August and will not make a new application.

"People have been at home to varying degrees. But the vast majority have been in one hundred percent service for a while. We see that the activity level has risen among our customers and then we meet it with increased activity level ourselves," he stated.
