NY cinemas outside NYC to reopen next week

Cinemas in most parts of the state of New York will reopen at reduced capacity on October 23, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Saturday.

Cuomo noted that movie theatres will operate at 25% of their capacity with no more than 50 people allowed per screening. He added that other measures such as social distancing and face masks will be obligatory.

However, he pointed out theatres in New York City will still remain closed and will only be allowed to reopen once the city's COVID-19 positivity rate drops under 2%. New York City's positivity rate currently stands at 4.3%.
