Europe down in premarket amid virus worries

Major stock market indexes in Europe traded lower in the premarket session on Tuesday as the coronavirus resurgence in Europe weighed on sentiment. Germany registered over 6,800 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours and Ireland is going into a lockdown for six weeks to curb the spread of the virus. Meanwhile, markets were also impacted by technical issues from a day earlier as Euronext experienced technical issues on Monday and canceled all trades which occurred after 5:30 pm CET, setting the last traded price as the closing price.

The DAX lost 0.73% at 7:33 am CET and the FTSE 100 was 0.44% lower at the same time. The CAC 40 declined 0.20% at 7:38 am CET.

The euro increased by 0.07% to go for 1.17786 against the dollar at 7:24 am CET and the pound was 0.06% in the red compared to the greenback at 7:32 am CET, trading at 1.29386.
