Iran, Russia obtained voter registration data - US

United States Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe (pictured) and FBI Director Christopher Wray announced that Iran and Russia have separately gained access to voter registration information in an attempt to interfere in the upcoming US elections.

"To that end, we have already seen Iran sending spoofed emails designed to intimidate voters, incite social unrest, and damage [US] President [Donald] Trump," Ratcliffe said at a press conference. Russia did not make any concrete moves yet, but it did obtain "some voter information just as they did in 2016," the US national intelligence chief added.

Despite the attempts to meddle, "know that our election systems are resilient and you can be confident your votes are secure," Ratcliffe assured US voters, stressing that the American security agencies are "prepared for the possibility of actions by those hostile to democracy."
